Walter was the youngest son of Mr and Mrs Edmonds, Manchester, England.
Before the war he was employed as cashier with the Harland Engineering Co., Glasgow.
Second Lieutenant Edmonds joined the 5th Scottish Rifles as a cyclist on the day after war was declared in 1914 and was in France at the beginning of November of the same year. For fourteen months he rendered valuable service as a despatch rider. He then obtained his commission in the Scottish Rifles in January 1916, after a course of training at a cadet school behind the firing line in France. Lieutenant Edmonds.
He was killed on 14th July 1916, while leading his men.
