Baird, Daniel Dougal (1888 - 1918)

Lieutenant Daniel Dougal Baird was born on the 13th March 1888, only son of William D. Baird, a Solicitor, and Mary P. Baird, residing at 'Hartfield', 26 Holmhead Road, Cathcart, Glasgow. Daniel was educated at the Queen's Park Higher Grade School, and then went on to the Technical College and the University of Glasgow, where he graduated BSc in Engineering in 1909. Daniel then qualified as a Patent Agent with Messrs Marks and Clarke in London.

Lieutenant Baird served in the Royal Air Force and died on the 31st October 1918, aged 30. He is buried in his home cemetery, Grave No. G129, in Cathcart, Glasgow (see The War Graves Photographic Project website to view a photograph of Lieutenant Daniel Dougal Baird's headstone).
