Thomas was one of the sons Mr and Mrs J. Guthrie, Caird Drive, Glasgow.
He was in the employment of Messrs H.A. Laing & Co., Virginia Street.
He joined as a private in the 7th Camerons in November 1914. He served with them in France until he received his commission in July 1916. He had been wounded in 1915 at the Battle of Loos, France and on his return to France was again very seriously wounded in the Battle of Arras, France, 26th April 1917.
For more than a year he suffered in hospital and at last succumbed to his injuries on 27th June 1918. He was 24 years of age.
