Hall, William Main S/13323 (1882 - 1915)
Lance Corporal, 7th Bn. Cameron Highlanders
Buried at Loos Memorial
Commemorated at Bellahouston Academy Roll of Honour
William was the eldest son of Mr and Mrs Hall, Berryknow Road, Cardonald, Glasgow (late of Ibroxholm).
On leaving Bellahouston Academy he entered his fathers business (Wishart Hall & Co., Elder Park Works), which supplied ink for the Glasgow herald and Scotsman Newspapers. He remained there until he joined the army. He was a keen Territorial and was for many years in the Lanarkshire Volunteers but, on account of a serious illness, he was obliged to leave his Battalion some years before war broke out.
In September 1914 he enlisted in the 7th Cameron Highlanders and trained in this country till July 1915, when he proceeded to France with his regiment. He took part in much heavy fighting.
William was killed in action aged 33 at the Battle of Loos on 25th September 1915.
