Frederick Hayworth was born in Scotland in around 1893, the son of William Hayworth, a bank worker, and his wife Jane. He followed his father into banking, worked for The Royal Bank of Scotland as a clerk at its Glasgow St Vincent Street branch.
During the First World War Hayworth left the bank to join the army. By 1917 he was a Second Lieutenant in the London Regiment. He was killed in France on 12 May 1917, when he was serving as a Second Lieutenant in the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, attached to the London Regiment. He was 24 years old.
