Peter was a private servicing with the 19th (Queen Alexandra's Own Royal) Hussars, formerly the South Irish Horse. He was involved in fighting around the French village of Busigny in the Battle of Cambrai. Busigny was captured by the 30th American Division and British cavalry on 9 October 1918. He died on the 8 October, 1918 as part of the offensive.

He was the son of William and Margaret Henretty and his address at the time of his address was given as 61 Albert Road, Crosshill, Glasgow.
