George was born in Glasgow on the 18th July 1873.

He enlisted in the 2nd Battalion Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) 1891 to 8th August 1903, and then re-enlisted on the 11th January 1915.

He was missing presumed killed on the 28th May 1915 and his name is recorded on the Menin Gate Memorial.
