Livingstone, John 43156 (1896 - 1918)

John Livingstone was a Corporal in the second battalion of the 10th Royal Scots. He served in the Western Front during the First World War.

He was born in Glasgow, the eldest son of a family of fourteen. His father was George Livingstone, a fireman at a shale mine in Dalmeny, West Lothian. His mother was Jean Livingstone of 5 Railway Cottages, Dalmeny.

John married Agnes Aitchison during his leave after being wounded in France, by Declaration within the Sygnet Library, Edinburgh.

He was declared unfit for front-line duty and posted to Archangel as part of the International Force.

Corporal Livingstone was killed in action on the morning of the 11th November 1918 during a Bolshevik attack on his blockhouse near Troitsa, 200 miles south of Archangel on the River Dwina.
