Brodie, Thomas Scott 315808 (1897 - 1918)
Private, Lovat Scouts attached to Black Watch
Buried at Quietiste Military Cemetery
Commemorated at Bellahouston Academy Roll of Honour
Thomas enlisted in Lovat Scouts in August 1914. He had seen service in Gallipoli, Turkey, Egypt and Salonika, Greece, before he was drafted to France and his death so near the end of the campaign was all the more regrettable. He was merited by the words of his Commanding Officer - "A gallant and willing soldier, well liked by both officers and men".
His platoon was advancing against very heavy machine gun fire on the morning of 17 October 1918, when he was instanteneously killed. Private Brodie, who was 21 years of age, is buried in Quietiste British Cemetery near Le Cateau, France.
He was the son of John Brodie, Fairfield Shipping Company, and of Mrs Brodie, 5 South Avenue, Govan, Glasgow. He was in the employment of Messrs Moorhead, Brunswick Street.
