Cameron, William Adie S/13756 (1895 - 1917)

William Adie Cameron was born in Strontian, Argyllshire on 26 June 1895, the son of Duncan and Helen Cameron. He went to work for Commercial Bank of Scotland in June 1911, and from December 1913 was an apprentice at its Glasgow Queen Street branch.

In September 1914 Cameron joined the army, serving as a Private in the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders. He sustained a shrapnel wound in his hand in September 1915, but later made a full recovery, and was able to return to active service. He was killed in action on the Western Front on 13 November 1917. He was 22 years old.
