Millen, James A. 330830 (1896 - 1916)
Lance Corporal, 9th Bn. Higland Light Infantry
Buried at Thiepval Memorial
Commemorated at Bellahouston Academy Roll of Honour
James was one of the sons of Mr and Mrs James A. Millen, 3 Carlton Gardens, Crookston, Glasgow.
On leaving school James became an apprentice architect in the office of Sir John T. Burnet. He had already served three and a half years when war broke out.
He joined the forces in September 1914 and after a short time training he went to France. He was an excellent soldier, and, as a result, was recommended for a commission.
In the severed fighting at High Wood, France, on 15th July 1916, he was unfortunately amongst the missing. Later he was officially reported killed in action on that date.
