Lance-Corporal R. C. Williamson was the eldest son of Mr. J. G. Williamson, 286 Byres Road, Glasgow, and was educated at North Kelvinside H.G. School and Hillhead High School. He did not remain long enough at School to make a deep impression on our School life, but he is remembered for his lovable disposition, his sincerity of purpose, and his kindly nature.

On leaving School he entered the office of Messrs. Bulloch, Lade & Co., Limited, Glasgow. His favourite pastime was running, and he was an enthusiastic member of the West of Scotland Harriers. Bowling and tennis engaged his attention in the summer time, and he was well and favourably known on the greens and courts of Woodend, Jordanhill.

When the war began he was one of the first to join up. He enlisted in the 1/1st Scottish Horse, and was for a long time in training at Kettering and Newcastle. He went with his regiment to Egypt, and thence in November, 1915, to the Dardanelles.

He was wounded at Suvla Bay on the 9th December in the fighting preliminary to the evacuation of that dear-bought place. He died on board the hospital ship "Kurapara" on the 14th December, and was buried at sea.
