David was the elderst son of Mr and Mrs D A Taylor who resided at Hillington Gardens, Cardonald, Glasgow. The whole of his school life was spent at Bellahouston Academy. He was a fine athlete and gained the School Championship in 1913, an unusual distinction for so young a pupil. Before the war, he worked in the offices of Messrs Graham & Co., India merchants, Cathedral Street, Glasgow.
