Pupils at Drumchapel High School are preparing to launch a brand new community radio station thanks to funding from Glasgow Airport's FlightPath Fund.

The school has received £3,000 from the airport towards the cost of the project which will benefit pupils, staff and members of the local community.

The FlightPath Fund reached a major milestone on recently when it awarded it's £1 millionth since it was established in 2010 - this landmark was reached through the grant given to Drumchapel High School.

Once up and running at the start of 2016, the new school radio station will be operated by pupils while being overseen by staff.

Linda Hendry from the Council, who sits on the FlightPath Fund committee said:"This is a fantastic project which will encourage pupils and teachers to interact with local community groups and organisations.

"The radio station will be run like a small business, so as well as giving pupils the opportunity to learn about new technology, it will also give them lifelong skills which will be helpful when they leave school and apply for jobs. This is exactly the sort of project that the FlightPath Fund is eager to support, and we look forward to finding out how the pupils get on with the new project."
