Next Stop Kinning Park for CoMoUK's Pop-Up Mobility Hub

A pop-up mobility hub that makes it easier for people to walk, wheel and cycle for local journeys has found its latest home in Kinning Park.

Delivered by the charity CoMoUK through the Paths for All's Smarter Choices, Smarter Places Fund, the temporary hub which occupies a parking bay outside 253 Paisley Road West (between Harvie St and Edwin St) will offer local residents interested in travelling actively, a range of useful services.

As well as a nextbike hire station, the hub includes an accessible seating area with attractive planting, a free bike repair stand with tools and a pump, and provides a meeting point for community activities. The pop-up also houses helpful information about local sustainable transport.

Kinning Pk - mobility hub
Mobility hubs bring together shared transport with public transport and active travel in spaces designed to improve the public realm. Supported by Glasgow City Council given our commitment to exploring the benefits of these hubs, this is the third location that the pop-up hub has occupied following previous, temporary installations in Mount Florida and Kelvinbridge.

During the period the Kinning Park mobility hub is open, CoMoUK will run free activities for the local community, such as bike repairs, health walks and bike maintenance classes, with more information available at www.como.org.uk/kinning-park.

Local residents can also find out more about claiming a £10 credit for Glasgow's nextbike cycle hire scheme by emailing scotland@como.org.uk.

When sited previously on West Prince's Street in Kelvinbridge, the hub's nextbike station was used almost 150 times in under seven weeks. Residents also benefitted from free activities including guided bike rides and walks, a bike maintenance class for beginners, bike health check-ups, and a drop-in balance bike session for children learning how to ride.

As set out in our Transport Strategy, the pop-up mobility hubs are temporary so that we can test different areas of the city to see what works best to help people to walk, wheel and cycle more.

The hub on Paisley Road West in Kinning Park will be available until the week of 17 February 2025, after which it will move to a new (to be determined), location.
