Council by-elections

There will be four by-elections to be held for the return of a COUNCILLOR for Glasgow City Council for the following Wards:

Ward 14 -Drumchapel/Anniesland

Ward 15 - Maryhill

Ward 21 - North East

Ward 23 - Partick East/Kelvindale

Wards 14, 15 and 21

The by-elections for these wards will be held on Thursday 21 November 2024.

The deadline to register to vote for this election is Tuesday 5 November 2024 (midnight). 

The deadline to apply for a postal vote for this election is 5pm Wednesday 6 November 2024. 

The deadline for new applications to vote by proxy is 5pm Wednesday 13 November 2024. 

The deadline to cancel or change an existing postal or proxy vote is 5pm Wednesday 6 November 2024. 

Ward 23

The by-election for this ward will be held on Thursday 5 December 2024.

The deadline to register to vote for this election is Monday 18 November 2024 (midnight).

The deadline to apply for a postal vote for this election is 5pm Tuesday 19 November 2024. 

The deadline for new applications to vote by proxy is 5pm Tuesday 26 November 2024. 

The deadline to cancel or change an existing postal or proxy vote is 5pm Tuesday 19 November 2024. 

Register To Vote

You can register to vote online at https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

You can vote in local council elections if you are aged 16 years and over. You must also be either:

  • A British, Irish or European Union citizen, or
  • A Commonwealth citizen or foreign national who has permission to enter or stay in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man, or who does not need permission. Permission to enter or stay in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man (also called Leave to Enter or Remain) refers to a legal immigration status.

 

Voting by Post or Proxy

New applications for a postal or proxy vote for these by-elections can only be made by completing a paper application form.
