Town Centre Pilot Payday Lenders and Betting Shops

Email (opens new window)

As part of the Town Centre Pilots Programme developed by the Scottish Government to focus attention on town centres, Glasgow City Council and West Dunbartonshire Council were asked to undertake separate studies into the increased presence of payday lenders and betting shops in town centres, and to consider the role of the planning system in regulating the potential impacts of these uses on town centres themselves and the communities that use them.

A summarised version of the study will be launched on the Scotland's Towns Partnership: Town Centre Planning Pilots Programme on 15-16 June 2016, to coincide with the World Towns Leadership Summit in Edinburgh.
