Energy Efficient Scotland Route Map

The Scottish Government launched their Energy Efficient Scotland Route Map on the 2 May 2018.

Energy Efficient Scotland is a 20 year plan containing a set of actions aimed at making Scotland's existing buildings near zero carbon, where feasible by 2050, by improving the energy efficiency of Scotland's buildings and decarbonise their heat supply.

The programme is the successor to Scotland's Energy Efficiency Programme (SEEP), which launched in 2016.  The Council was successful in securing funding for works in the pilot two phases of SEEP, projects listed below:

Phase 1

2016-2018

  • Greater Easterhouse Supporting Hands Community Centre: installation of External Wall Insulation to the building
  • Dalmarnock Nursery school: connection to existing district heating system which already serves the former Commonwealth Games Athletes' Village
  • Linthaugh Nursery school: installation of a new heating system, and upgrade of existing insulation

Phase 2

2017-2019

  • Glasgow Life sports centres (Bellahouston, Gorbals and Scotstoun): installation of Building Management Systems (BEMs) and controls at each centre
  • Wheatley House: installation of a Building Management System and solar PV in its head office
  • Toryglen Community Centre: installation of External Wall Insulation system as well as solar PV, LED lights and heating controls
  • Glasgow Housing Association commercial units: trialling solutions for a 'gain to repay' investment model that will include a loan to cover capital cost of energy efficiency improvements for GHA commercial units.
  • Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy (LHEES): production of a new Glasgow-wide strategy which integrates domestic and non-domestic energy strategies and will bring together all the different heat, energy, carbon management and fuel poverty strategies that currently exist in Glasgow.
