Make a Payment (opens new window) Direct Debit (opens new window) Register for e-billing (opens new window)
What is it?
An exemption from paying Council Tax, where the property is the sole or main residence of one or more persons under the age of 18 years.
How does it work?
You need to apply for an exemption, it will not automatically be granted.
To award an exemption, we need to know who lives in the house, their date(s) of birth, and proof that they are the sole or main occupier(s).
We need proof of:
- Verification of the age of all occupiers by providing birth certificate(s) or passport(s).
- The lease, if the property is rented.
- The name and current address of the owner(s), if the property is not rented.
We can periodically review all exemptions and discounts to check that the award is still correct.
