The Role of the Licensing Board

The City of Glasgow Licensing Board is constituted as an independent regulatory body by virtue of Section 5 of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005.
The main function of the Board is to regulate premises that sell alcohol to the public.
The Licensing Board is also required by the Gambling Act 2005 to regulate certain gambling activities within the City.
Membership
Section 1(2) of Schedule 1 of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 provides that membership of the Licensing Board should be formed from the current Elected Members of the Council.
Meetings and Agendas
The Licensing Board meets approximately once a month. Meetings are generally scheduled for Monday mornings at 9.30am and take place in the Burgh Court Hall, 40 John Street, Glasgow.
The Council's Committee Information Pages provide details of forthcoming meetings of the Licensing Board. Agendas are normally available 3 working days prior to the meeting.
