West Nile Street Active Travel Route

Glasgow City Council's (GCC) City Centre Transport Plan (CCTP) sets out an ambitious strategy for change in the way the transport system within the city centre moves and operates. The CCTP aims to deliver a thriving vibrant city centre where the movement of people and sustainable transport modes are given priority.

As part of the delivery of the City Centre Transport Plan (CCTP) Glasgow City Council has developed designs for a safe, high-quality and inclusive active travel link on West Nile Street, running parallel to Buchanan Street and providing a north-south connection to other active travel schemes within the Avenues Programme. West Nile Street's central location, gentle gradient and proximity to the main shopping area further strengthens its suitability as an active travel link. As shown below, West Nile Street cycleway connects with the following Avenues schemes:

  • Argyle Street
  • St Vincent Street
  • Sauchiehall Street
  • Renfrew/Killermont Street
  • Cowcaddens Road
