Govan-Partick Strategic Development Framework

Email (opens new window)

The Glasgow City Development Plan identifies six areas within the City that require a Strategic Development Framework (SDF) in order to coordinate development activity over the short, medium and long term. Govan-Partick is one of the six areas identified.

The SDF for Govan-Partick sets out:

  • Vision for the area to be recognised as an urban district of well-connected but distinct neighbourhoods, providing a very high quality of life, creating a context for nationally significant economic development and a narrowing of social inequalities. The area will be recognised as a leading Innovation District, where technical excellence contributes to inclusive growth and the building of a liveable place

  • Spatial Design Strategy which sets out guidance to support planning initiatives and projects, inform the design of proposals, and assist in the determination of planning applications.

  • An Action Programme to progress planning initiatives.

This includes development such as public spaces, housing, shops, facilities, transport infrastructure, and open spaces like parks and play areas. The SDF also contains an initial action programme to be delivered over different timescales.

Status

The Council adopted the Govan-Partick Strategic Development Framework as Supplementary Guidance to the City Development Plan in February 2020.
