Housing Service Guide for Users
What is it?
As with many other services, Glasgow City Council's Housing and Regeneration Services has taken steps to prevent the further spread of the Coronavirus, and to protect employees and public health.
We have altered the way in which we are working and as a consequence staff may not be available to respond to phone enquiries.
If you have already emailed us we will respond to you in due course.
Please note there may be a delay in processing your enquiry or application during this period.
Housing Strategy Team
If you wish to contact the Housing Strategy team for enquiries about housing policy or Glasgow's Housing Strategy, please contact us by Email.
Private Landlord Registration and Support
Staff from the Private Landlord Registration Unit are now working from home. Staff are not able to answer phones nor do they have access to their own emails.
We ask that if you have any queries please contact us by email at Private Landlord Registration or Private Landlord Support.
Please note that staff will not be available to carry out site inspections until further notice. We will however respond to email enquiries as quickly as possible.
Applications for landlord registration should still be submitted online through the Scottish Landlord Register. At this time we are unable to process paper applications.
During these exceptional times we have also made arrangements for important communications to be sent to you by Email/SMS and these will be sent by the Scottish Government. They have published guidance for landlords and agents which can be found here.
Our staff may contact you by phone, in some cases. For your reassurance we will not take payments by phone and customers will be directed to make any payments online at Scottish Landlord Register.
Private Landlords and Letting Agents
The Scottish Government has produced guidance for Letting Agents and Private Landlords. Private Landlords can get information on how to apply for the Private Rented Sector Landlord (non-business) Covid-19 Loan. The interest free loan will be available to registered landlords with 5 or less rental properties and will cover lost rental income from a single property.
Area Based Schemes
The Scottish Government's Energy Efficient Scotland: Area Based Schemes 2020 has now been launched.
Owner occupied/Private Landlord residents will have received a letter from the council inviting them to participate in an Area Based Scheme project. The letter will tell you about the proposed Energy Efficiency Works planned for your area and ask if you would be interested in joining in the project.
Only those who receive a letter about a future project are eligible to participate, for more information click here.

- fit/lower thresholds;
- secure loose flooring/cables;
- move furniture to enable safe access around the home/prepare for installation of hospital equipment.
Our services for Advice, Handyperson/Home and Hospital Handyperson are free of charge. Payment is only required for materials provided by the Handyperson.
